Soul to Throttle.

It’s not just about riding a motorcycle fast, 15 year motorcycle veteran Vicki Wiederkehr tells her lady rider friends at a recent ride planning meeting. “The soul to throttle feeling is truly the confidence combined with the wonder that riding the open road brings to your soul”. Hard to explain to a non-rider, so think about the relaxation, lowered stress and anxiety that comes to a rider. It’s why a 2 day ride trip can feel like a week off. Riding resets your temperament. It erases anxiety. It makes the biggest issues seem small. 

The sun is your compass. The smells are your motivation. The thrust of the throttle brings a powerful reminder to live life to the fullest, as with most aspects of life you can’t control, you can control the throttle. Whether the sounds of music or nature serenade you, you are never alone.

Yet you are free to be alone with all your thoughts. Alone with your goal setting, life planning and even prayer. For me as a rider,‘it’s the time I feel closest to nature which brings about my relationship with God. I truly pray the most on my bike, not out of fear but out of being at complete peace.

Riding allowed me to be free, to meet ladies who enjoyed riding as much as me, sometimes more than me. No reason to compete, this journey is all your own, to be done at your own pace. Just like life in general.
