LET’S TALK ABOUT KEVLAR®
You’ll hear the word Kevlar a lot in motorcycle gear—but not all Kevlar is the same, and how it’s used matters just as much as having it.
So let’s break it down, rider to rider.
WHAT KEVLAR ACTUALLY DOES
Kevlar® is a high-strength fiber designed to help resist:
- abrasion (sliding on pavement)
- tearing
- heat from friction
Regular denim or fashion fabrics aren’t built for asphalt. Kevlar helps protect your skin when the road doesn’t give.
Protection isn’t about riding scared.
It’s about riding prepared.
TYPES OF KEVLAR USED IN MOTO GEAR
Not all motorcycle gear uses Kevlar the same way.
Kevlar® Fiber Blends
These are woven or knit fabrics blended with Kevlar fibers.
- Flexible
- Breathable
- Comfortable for everyday riding
- Common in jeans, hoodies, and casual-looking gear
Kevlar® Panels or Liners
Kevlar is placed in high-impact and slide zones like:
- hips and back end/buttocks
- knees
- seat
- elbows
- shoulders
This is intentional placement—protection where riders are most likely to make contact with the road.
Full Reinforcement Systems
Some gear uses broader Kevlar coverage combined with armor pockets for added protection without stiffness.
HOW KEVLAR IS USED IN STANDARD BLAZEN SPIRIT GEAR
At Blazen Spirit, Kevlar isn’t an afterthought or a buzzword.
We use Poly-Kevlar reinforcement in key zones to help protect where it matters most—while keeping gear comfortable and wearable. This style is more comfortable on the road and gives incredible protection of what European standards consider AA rating.
You’ll see Kevlar used in:
- Kevlar-lined riding jeans for everyday protection.
- Reinforced hoodies that feel casual but add real abrasion resistance.
- Poly/Kevlar leggings and other hybrid pieces that balance durability and fashion
Kevlar works best as part of a system—paired with:
- Proper fit (Snug to your body is important)
- CE1 and CE2 rated armor.
- Thoughtful construction, we use only industry standard manufacturers with experience in the niche clothing market for moto riders.
WHY FIT AND COMFORT MATTER
Kevlar only helps if you’re wearing it.
If gear is too stiff, too hot, or too bulky, riders leave it in the closet. That’s why Blazen Spirit focuses on wearable protection—gear women actually choose to ride in.
Comfort keeps protection in place.
We have used this version in our testing, this is a stiff version of Kevlar often used in the military. It is nearly impossible to cut with even commercial scissors. It is also known to be bullet proof, and used in many military and bullet proof vest applications.
WHAT KEVLAR IS NOT
Kevlar:
- Doesn’t make you invincible.
- Doesn’t replace smart riding.
- Doesn’t eliminate the risk of riding on two wheels even under the best conditions.
What it can do is reduce injury severity in real-world situations.
And that matters. Blazen Spirit exists to bring this education to our riders, and to let them know we are here to bring cool looking, great fitting options,
THE BOTTOM LINE
Kevlar is one of the most important tools in motorcycle protection—but how it’s used matters.
At Blazen Spirit, we use Kevlar intentionally:
- Where riders need it. Arms, legs are both slide points and so Kevlar is important in these areas. It is skin insurance most riders would say. Ask anyone riding a BMW, they seem to know so much about this area that many who run with cruiser crowds just don’t.
- In gear designed for women, poly blends make it safe and comfortable. It is Kevlar you really don’t mind to wear. It moves with you.
- Without sacrificing confidence or style!
Because protection should work quietly—until the moment it’s needed.
Be Seen. Be Protected. Be Blazen.
